Dec. 16 Angel Tree Update from SOAR Ministries, Inc |

Dear Friends,
Good evening from central Mexico. Today was busy as usual but at least we were better rested after a good night's sleep.
This morning we were at the church in Las Colonias. There we had the local teens to help us with the Christmas story and the candy cane devotion. We started out with some singing and celebrating by making a joyful noise to our Lord. The Christmas story was told to them using wooden puppets. They work great and a big thanks goes out to Bobby Glover for preparing them. The children were very creative to decorate their little white paper bags for their parents. Once church service was over the children filed out by their age and were given a bag from the back of the trailer. Their eyes just lit up in anticipation for what they would find.
We were able to go back to camp and have some lunch and several visitors joined us for some american hamburgers. We sorted and counted and counted again to make sure how many bags we have left.
Tonight we were off to the church in Rascon. We had lots of children waiting for us. Even the church in Loreto came with about 15 or so children riding about 45 minutes in the back of a pickup truck. They were excited about being there and we were happy to see them as well as Israel and Obed. The children were quiet and had their listening ears on. They heard the Christmas story and the candy cane devotion. In the devotion it discusses the reason that the red stripes are placed on the white cane. I wondered if the children were getting the true meaning of the story, but when I asked if they were able to correctly answer the questions after the story, the answer was yes. To know that children understand what a present the Christ gave to us by giving his life for us is such a blessing.
Continue to pray for us to be His hands and His feet. This entire trip is about Him, not about us.
Hope all is well at home and I hope you enjoy the pictures. |
