Dear Friends,

June ends today. It is hard to believe, but being in the middle of travel season, time always goes by fast. Thanks for the continued prayers and support you all give to SOAR and the teams that travel to share God's love. You are a part of this ministry whether you travel on a team or not. We all have our part to play. Thank you for interceding for each of us.
Update for Alyssa Phillips
Neil&Alyssa
Alyssa had another heavy round of Chemo in early June. She came through well with few side effects. She continues to keep her positive attitude through it all. If you would like to keep up with her progress you can go to her Lot of Helping Hands website, a friend created for her. She and Neil, as well as Ann and Larry, appreciate all of the continued thoughts and prayers.

Pancho Pancho goes to be with the Lord
It is with a sad heart that I need to let you know that Francisco, better known as Pancho, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 26, 2007.  His health has been failing for quite some time, and he finally received is eternal healing. When I was at the home with the Villa Rica group in early June, I had a strange feeling that it may be the last time I had to be with him. Fortunately, because he accepted Christ as his savior 4 years ago, I will see him again when we are all reunited with our heavenly father.
Summer Groups
As of this writing, three groups have finished their short term missions this month. One group, Mt. Carmel, is on the field in Mexico, and there are two groups still to travel later in July. Antioch Christian will go to Jamaica, July 5 - July 12, and Peachtree City Christian will travel to Bethshean in Mexico, July 20 - 26. I continually learn from each group, that God created us all differently with different talents and abilities to share His word and love in unique ways.

Villa Rica had men able to do electrical work that gave them the opportunity to spend time at the church in Sauceda working alongside the minister Obed, and some of the members of his church. They also had team members in the medical profession that opened doors in two schools to do health clinics for the teenagers. Their graciousness in caring for these "kids" who were nervous really showed the love of Christ.

The Christ Church group had determination above all. They worked in 100+ heat each day, and although it could have gotten the best of them, they pushed through and completed a house for a family. They had early mornings, and some late nights by working at the church as well. They really worked hard at making relationships with the family where we stayed as well as the family on the job site.

Peachcrest youth traveled to Mississippi to work at Sunbelt Christian Youth Ranch. You could say they also had determination. The devil really didn't want them to make it to their destination. The van broke down in Alabama, but they made the most of it. They attended a church service at a Church of Christ that evening and instead of complaining about no instruments they said it was really neat to go to a service that was a little different. After a huge traffic jam the next day, they did make it to their destination where they chopped wood, baled hay, and lots of other tasks to assist on the Ranch. At least I'm told they worked, but one night when I called, they were at a Mississippi Braves game. Judy has all the fun with her groupsJ.

Christmas in June
ranchito 2 Angel Tree Project
Well, we aren't exactly celebrating Christmas, but it is time to begin preparations for our Christmas Angel Tree Project to Bethshean. There are lots of ways to get involved in this project if you want to individually, or with your church, school, or other group. We are looking for individuals to sew bags that will be used to put the gifts in. You can find directions for making the bags on the Angel Tree website. The bags can be made from all kinds of material. If you have questions, just call Wendy Duncan at 770-554-3992 or e-mail angeltree@soarministries.org. Besides sewing bags, you can begin collecting items that will be given in addition to the bags. We are always in need of "parent gifts" which consist of toiletry items, kitchen towel sets, and small tool sets or small items for men. I will write more about how you can be involved in next month's newsletter, but if you are considering participating again, or for the first time, please let me know. This is a great project to show God's love to the people in Central Mexico, and we can't do it alone. Contact information is 770-982-2146 - SOAR office, and kerid@soarministries.org for e-mail.
