| SOAR Update |
September 2, 2007 |
Dear Keri,
Greetings friends. We have decided to try a new format for our e-mail update. I hope you find it easy to read and informative.
I know it has been a while since we have sent an update, and even longer since a printed newsletter has been mailed, so we hope this will bring you all up to date on some of the latest happenings in the ministry.

Summer Wrap Up
Adriana is Baptized in Mexico
Thursday night, July 19, 2007 will be a day I won't soon forget. It was December of 2005 when I first met Adriana in the small village of Pastoria. She hosted us at her family's home to provide the Angel Tree bags to the kids in her village (over 100 kids came in her home). She was so kind and loving I could hardly believe she wasn't a Christian. That started the long journey of prayer for her and her family. Juan Carlos, a minister with Bethshean, began having Bible studies with her and her family in their home. After many prayers and bible studies, our prayers were finally answered. She decided to make a personal decision for Christ. It was a huge honor to be present for her baptism. Thanks for all the prayers for her, and continue them for her and the rest of the family. Adriana is now the first and only Christian in her village. We are praying the rest of the family will soon follow her example. |
Hurricane Relief
Supporting the Ashley church with Jamaica Christian Mission
Hurricane Dean may not have had a direct hit to the island country of Jamaica, but it certainly left its mark. The end of July SOAR led a trip from Antioch CC to put a roof on the church in Ashley that had been destroyed by a previous hurricane. We were pleased to hear the roof held up through the storm, but many of the church members and the community in Ashley were hit hard. SOAR is coordinating a collection effort to ship needed supplies as well as collect financial contributions to assist in the repair and rebuild of many homes. The deadline for the current shipment is September 16. Check out the flyer on the website for the specific items being collected. If you have any questions please e-mail Judy at judy@soarministries.org. All financial contributions can be mailed to SOAR Ministries 1384 Meadow Springs Drive Lilburn, GA 30047 and marked Jamaica Hurricane Relief. |
SOAR Angel Tree 2007
Preparations are well underway
It is hard to believe that it is still August and that we are already working on our plans for the December Angel Tree project. Once again we will be distributing and collecting bags filled with wonderful gifts for the children in central Mexico associated with the Bethshean Mexico Mission. Our goal is to collect and distribute 1000 bags as well as small items the kids can give to their parents. There are many ways you can get involved from helping to sew bags, distributing and collecting bags at your church, school, or work, making financial contributions to offset the cost of delivering these bags, and even traveling with us December 13 - 24 to personally deliver these bags. Check out the website for more specifics on how you can get involved or e-mail me at angeltree@soarministries.org. |
