Leading Short-Term Missions
Our desire is to assist with your specific needs. We can simply offer advice and guidance materials or we can plan the mission from start to finish, including sending a SOAR liaison on the field with the team. We will work closely with you, your group, your congregation or mission committee to make decisions regarding projects, planning, organizing, recruiting, training, fund raising and much more. You decide how much or how little involvement you need from SOAR.
Consulting Services
We can offer advice to you, your congregation or missions committee. Gathering information is a critical part of the planning process for a short term mission. SOAR can provide workshops, presentations or meetings with you to make sure you have the information you need to make the decisions about your short term mission.
Teacher Training
Keri earned her Doctorate in 2019. many of Keri's friends and contacts, enjoy sharing the knowledge they have in teaching students. If your location has a school or bible school teachers that would benefit from some specific teacher training, we would love to coordinate a team to meet those needs. Keri concentrates on technology uses in education so she always has something new to share with anyone willing to listen.
Kinds of Projects
Acts of Kindness - In various cities or towns where we have the opportunity to serve, we can do various painting and cleaning projects to make the town more desirable.
ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) Classes - In many foreign countries they have a deep desire to learn English. That skill will give them an edge when trying to find a job locally. Through these English classes we are able to reach many people who might not otherwise enter the doors of a church building.
VBS Activities - At many locations we are able to conduct a one day or a week of activities for the local children. These days include Bible Stories and lessons, craft activities, and games.
Camp Services - In some locations with the proper facilities, we are able to conduct daily and over night Christian camps for the children and youth. The evening worship sessions are a great time for the parents to come see what the children are learning and get a message themselves.
Working with the Elderly - In one of our locations, Mexico, they have a elderly home. There we are able to coordinate devotions, craft lessons, physical activities, and a Senior Saints Day which involves the elderly from the entire town for a full day of activities, lessons, and food.
Light Construction - Depending on the missionary with whom we are working, we are able to do small projects such as painting, and small types of renovations. Those projects are very dependent upon the skilled people who participate in the teams, and the resources of the local mission.
Participate in Church Services - Each location is different, but all seem to enjoy participation by the "foreigners" in worship. It may be leading music, either in English or the local language, doing small skits or dramas, or giving your testimony. The churches love to hear how the Lord works in everyone's life, no matter where they live. In some locations, they enjoy having team members even delivering the sermon on a Sunday morning or evening, or Bible study.
Angel Bags Project - Each year SOAR sponsors the Angel Bags Project to Bethshean Mexico Mission. Churches choose to fill cloth filled bags according to age groups and gender. The children ask for very little, such as school supplies and small toys. Those wishing to participate choose a tag and a bag to fill and return to their local congregation. The bags are then collected and personally delivered to central Mexico in December, usually before Christmas. If you would like to actually travel with us to take the Bags and see the impact it is making in Central/rural Mexico, please contact Keri for more details and the cost of the trip.
